Trek to the Fen at Sharon Fen Preserve

A guided hike to Sharon Fen Preserve led by Rebekah Bergkoetter, Stewardship Manager of the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy. This hike offers an expansive view of a unique wetland landform, a brief history of the geologic features, and discussions about the ecology of this particular type of fen. Participants will have the opportunity to see historical infrastructure and test the load-bearing qualities of floating moss mats.

This is a moderately-to-hard difficulty hike covering 6 miles roundtrip with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. Expect a full day of walking on difficult, uneven terrain with off-trail sections. Due to fire restrictions, participants will hike the access road rather than drive it. The hike is recommended only for those comfortable with long, intensive outdoor experiences. Limited to 15 hikers.
